His initial attempt at building a seeder ended in frustration. The prototype failed because carrot seeds have tiny hairs that prevent suction devices from gripping them properly. The breakthrough came when Zheng combined two innovations: a friend’s seed coating technology that smoothed the rough seeds, and the air-suction principle he observed while watching his wife use a vacuum cleaner. By 2014, he had refined the concept enough to establish his company.
Today, Dashun Jingfeng’s air-suction seeders represent a leap forward in precision agriculture. Independent testing by Qingdao Agricultural University shows the machines achieve single-seed rates above 92% with missed seeding below 3%. A November 2023 field event in Laixi showcased the company’s flagship integrated seeder, which combines rotary tillage, ridging, drip irrigation, fertilization, and seeding in a single pass. A subsequent demonstration in Yantai at a national vegetable industry conference earned praise from experts who recognized the technology’s potential to modernize vegetable production across China.
International markets have taken notice. Dashun Jingfeng now exports to Canada, Russia, the United States, Australia, and Senegal. The company produces over 1,000 machines annually, with the majority serving farms outside Shandong Province. Academic collaboration has played an important role in refining the technology. In late 2024, Qingdao Agricultural University officials visited the company to assess the partnership with Professor Wang Fangyan’s engineering team. Zheng Jiangshan announced plans to deliver carrot harvesters to farmers by the end of the year, marking the company’s entry into harvesting machinery.
